"Too much money is worse than too little for most organization-not that I wouldn’t like to run a Super Bowl commercial someday. Until that day comes, the key to success for most organizations is bootstrapping. The term bootstrapping comes from the German legend of Baron von Munchhausen pulling himself out of the sea by pulling on his own bootstraps. That’s essentially what you’ll have to do, too.”

Let me admit a real prejudice that I have, and maybe you can try to convince me that I’m wrong: it’s my belief that you just can’t get great design out of a design agency with a staff larger than a dozen or two. Design doesn’t scale well, in my opinion, or at least it doesn’t do so easily.

Some of Silicon Valley’s digerati don’t let $3,600 admission prices keep them from attending technology conferences...They simply loiter in the venue’s lobby - without paying - in hopes of mingling with other entrepreneurs, collecting business cards and cutting deals. Who cares about hearing Microsoft’s CEO opine on stage? Schmoozing in the hallways for free is far more valuable, many technology insiders say. The phenomenon has become so prevalent that it has been given a name: lobbycon.

We first released our ‘Guide to Greener Electronics’ in August 2006. The guide ranks the 14 top manufacturers of personal computers and mobile phones according to their policies on toxic chemicals and recycling.
In this fifth issue of the Guide, Nokia maintains top spot with Sony Ericsson close behind. Dell and Lenovo tie for third place. Sony is the biggest mover and together with LGE has moved out of the red zone. Apple, Panasonic, Acer, Toshiba and Samsung move down the ranking for failing to make any additional improvements. HP is the only constant faller in the guide and is now in 13th position.
