ZapTXT re-launches

"ZapTXT lets you create custom keyword searches accross your favorite RSS-enabled sites and and receive alerts via email, instant messenger or mobile device.

Here’s a run down of the new features:
- Create a monitoring tasks across multiple feeds or URLs for specific keywords, and receive alerts as an email, IM or SMS. So true task monitoring now as opposed to per feed monitoring. (Use cases below)
- Auto discovery of feeds from URLs at every step to make it easier for the every day user
- Simplified refining of your feed set so you get can expand/contract the feed universe for a given task.
- A Zap It! Book marklet in your browser that passes a feed into ZapTXT from an RSS-enabled website that you stumble upon and want to monitor for keywords. A publisher ‘chicklet’ is there as well - to allow you a publisher to let their users receive notifications on interesting topics.
- Import/create, refine, monitor and export an OPML file and allow you to monitor keywords across the file. Optimize your feed in your OPML file from within the application.
- A Tag based system around feeds that have “need to know now” information from both media and public interest content sources.
- More powerful search: for example create a ZapTask using your trusted feeds with Apple, Cisco, Microsoft AND upgrade, downgrade, merger as keywords. You’ll get an alert every time any of these companies make the headlines for an upgrade, downgrade or merger.

Some Use Cases:
- A journalist, PR or corp. comms professional, or reporter can create ZapTasks around their specific key words (e.g. CEO, resigns, downgrade, earnings for a company, industry or competitor, Joe Lieberman on Daily KOS, CNN and Digg) and receive real-time updates on when news is covered across a specific set of feeds, (custom feed list or from tags,) or even across the blogsphere with cool search engines such as Sphere
- A diabetic can bring his/her feeds or select from tags, to have ZapTXT monitor a new drug, alternative treatment, and/or a set of blogs for a specific sub topic
- A sports fan can monitor a team, a player on his/her favorite blogs and news sites
- If you are a medic, combine feeds from your favorite sites, the FDA, and CDC to be on top of specific drug and equipment recalls or new drug approvals.
- For the shopper or jobseeker or any classifieds needs , monitor a job across Craigslist, Simplyhired, Edgeio, NYTimes or just about any rss enabled feed. Same applies for a snow board, an apartment or a car. And on and on… “
