Ideacodes is currently seeking expert front-end XHTML, CSS and AJAX coder(s) on a contract-to-hire basis. This isn’t a design position, rather, you’ll be coding designs and prototypes into XHTML/CSS, implementing AJAX interactions, and working closely with a designer. If you’re a hybrid designer-developer, all the better. You’ll be an integral part of our team on several exciting and challenging web applications and web 2.0 products. We’re looking for people who live for code and love to collaborate.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Loves rapid and iterative prototyping
- 3 to 4 years of industry experience coding standards-compliant XHTML and CSS
- 1 to 2 years of experience with Javascript, DOM, DHTML and AJAX (prototype, etc)
- Experience with integrating your code into existing web applications
- Experience with subversion and CVS repositories
- Experience with LAMP and open source, PHP, MySQL, etc
Location:
You’ll get to work in your own location, but you need to be able to meet at our office in the SoMA neighborhood in San Francisco (2nd Street between Folsom and Harrison) for regular work sessions and meetings.

Dear Emily,
First let me say that I love what you’re doing with eHub and Ideacodes. I don’t believe I “fit the bill” for this position, but my goal is to do just that. I’m working on transitioning into doing more XHTML, CSS and web development and I’m working on ways to gain experience and build a portfolio. My current experience is in mobile devices, J2ME and embedded Linux.
I’m also working on ways of encouraging more companies (even Agile ones, actually especially Agile ones) to truly embrace telecommuting. I see that you mention the candidate can work from anywhere but must still be close to SF. With today’s technology, can’t we yet truly work (even in a paired programming kind of environment) remotely.
Just my two cents.

Thanks. Yes, I agree. Working remotely is possible with agile techniques. I telecommuted for many years myself, but there’s still something to be said for the rapid and spontaneous collaboration that occurs face to face. We work remotely with many of our team so it’s not out of the question…
