Social Design Strategies Panel at SXSW 2008

I’m pleased to let you know that Max Kiesler and my proposed SXSW panel, Social Design Strategies, has been selected for SXSW 2008. Thanks to everyone who voted using the panel picker.

Our Social Design Strategies panel description:

Now that social networking is quickly becoming a regular feature set, designers need to understand the dynamics of designing experiences that encourage social behavior, while giving individuals a sense of privacy, personal gain, and ownership. How do you create a symbiotic relationship that maximizes discovery, game-play, connections and communication? We’ll examine a breadth of examples and explore their pros and cons.

You can see the preliminary list of 2008 SXSW Programming at the SXSW site. “Last March, the SXSW Interactive Festival hosted more than 140 panel sessions featuring the wisdom and creativity of more than 450 industry experts. For 2008, we expect similar numbers - with compelling. programming that covers everything from content to marketing to gaming to programming.” The list of panels looks as diverse this year as ever, including topics such as Green Software, China’s Web Industry, Black Tech Bloggers, and the Online Identity Crisis.

Last year’s SXSW was excellent and I’m already looking forward to this coming March.

SXSW sounds like a very exciting event. It seems to me that it can only get bigger and better. I hope to learn more.

I work for a mobile content company who will soon have a turnkey manner in which independent artists can upload and sell their work as mobile content, and we plan to do press in association with SXSW.

Your panel, where we can showcase live “designed for social” widgets and other mechanisms, would be perfect. Do you have any say in who is included on your panel, or you can have the organizers contact me?
